Engagement
At Chrysalis House treatment begins with engagement (Phase 1).
The person served will establish a sense of understanding of the services and program model (orientation) and participate in the assessment of her individual needs, strengths and preferences.
During Phase 1 the person served will facilitate a readiness to change; identify barriers to treatment retention/engagement; set treatment plan goals and objectives with therapist; and begin to establish a motivation to change. Persons served will participate in psycho-educational groups about the dynamics of addiction and will begin using basic skills; state an awareness of positive and negative self-talk.
Readiness to change and ability to set and achieve goals:

- Positive future orientation: ability to envision a positive future with sobriety and a desire to bring that future to fruition.
- Goal competence: ability to set realistic and achievable goals based upon healthy needs, desires and wants and progressing towards attainment.
- Self-worth: building a positive sense of self and sense of personal value.
