Chrysalis House, Community Action Council announce The Prep Academy
The Community Action Council will now provide early childhood education to the young children (6 weeks to three years old) of the women of Chrysalis House, a residential treatment program for mothers with substance abuse disorders. This is one of the pieces of art made by kids in the Chrysalis Community Center’s after-school program in 2003.
Thanks to a partnership, the Community Action Council will now provide early childhood education to the young children (6 weeks to three years old) of the women of Chrysalis House, a residential treatment program for mothers with substance abuse disorders.
“By partnering with the Chrysalis House we will be able to directly assist individuals with low income affected by substance abuse. The Council is committed to working alongside these women to help them determine and navigate their pathway out of poverty while ensuring that their young children are receiving a high-quality education,” said Malcolm Ratchford, executive director of the Council.
This partnership coincides with CAC’s decision to change the name of its direct-managed programs to The Prep Academy—a move intended to help the community better understand the impact of the Head Start programs on the community.
